A real MC... a real Lyricist... A real talent. is the scrapped 2006 debut mixtape by Nicki Minaj.
Background[]
An older friend of Nicki's, Loustar, who was also one of the members of their group The Hood$tars from 2001 - 2004, revealed the CD on his Instagram account on June 25, 2020. He shared the cover art and back cover with the track list, which contained a few tracks that were released on Minaj's later mixtapes from 2007 - 2008 (Playtime Is Over and Sucka Free). However, some multiple scrapped songs remain unheard. The post was captioned as:
"@nickiminaj 1st demo! (Cover art done by Me!) She was SO proud of this and the work she did and was able to accomplish on her own! I think we took this around to EVERY LABEL and ALL of them told us “This will never work, female rap is dead” I was telling them “YALL BUGGIN SHES GONNA BE THE BIGGEST FEMALE RAPPER THAT EVA CAME OUT! WATCH!” Now look😌 Fun Fact: Even Nicki didn’t believe me! But I used to tell her all the time! ANOTHER FUN FACT: She opens up the demo by giving props to EVERY female rapper that came in the game before her and who inspired her!JUST STATING FACTS!". [1]
