"MEGATRON" is a song by Nicki Minaj released on June 21, 2019. After a 3 month hiatus from social media, Nicki returned to Twitter with a cryptic tweet simply stating "MEGATRON." The next day she posted pictures of the music video shoot to her Instagram with the caption "#Megatron + #QueenRadio 6/21". The following day she posted a behind the scenes clip of the music video shoot. The track samples "Ting-A-Ling" by Emperor Ranks and "Heads High" by Mr. Vegas. Upon talking about it on Queen Radio, Nicki revealed that she wanted to release "Megatron" months prior, but her label wouldn't allow her to. The track is a stand alone single which means it is not connected to any album/bigger project.
MEGATRON Challenge[]
The MEGATRON Challenge was an online contest launched by Minaj on July 5, 2019 and was set to end on July 21, 2019. The challenge was to perform a dance/rap remix to the "Megatron" beat and impress Nicki enough to win. The first place prize was $10,000 and getting flown out to meet Minaj, the second place prize was $5,000, and the third place prize was $1,000. The challenge was open to rappers/singers (only solo) and dancers (solo or in groups). Throughout the month Nicki posted her favorite challenges on her Instagram. As the final date got closer Nicki decided to create 2 winning spots, as there were so many videos she loved. On an Instagram live on July 27, Nicki decided to extend the final date of the challenge. The 1st place winner was rapper Malibu Hannah.
