"Truffle Butter" is a song by Nicki Minaj from her third studio album The Pinkprint. It features guest vocals by Drake and Lil Wayne. The song was originally featured as a bonus track on the iTunes version, but due to extreme success, it was released as the fifth single off the album. The song was composed by Onika Maraj, Aubrey Graham, Dwayne Carter, Paul Jefferies, and Maya Jane Coles. It samples Maya Jane Coles's "What They Say". Production credit goes to Drake's signed producer, Nineteen85. The song was finally available to purchase on digital retailers and available to stream on streaming sites like Spotify on January 23, 2015. The song impacted Top 40 (Pop) radio on March 3, 2015.
Because the song debuted at #71 on the Billboard Hot 100, Minaj earned her 60th chart entry, making her the 15th artist to ever do so. With Only and Truffle Butter holding both the #1 and #2 spot on the Rap airplay chart, Nicki became the first female act ever achieve this feat as a lead artist on both songs. Truffle Butter also took the #1 spot from Only on the R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart and became her 6th on the chart. Truffle Butter, Only, Feeling Myself, and Throw Sum Mo all spent a week in the Top 10 on that chart, making Nicki the first female artist ever to achieve so. Even without the feature Throw Sum Mo, the other three songs allowed for her to be the first female artist to have three songs as a lead in the Top 10 simultaneously.
The song has been certified Gold in the US.
Background
A demo version of the song leaked on September 3, 2014, with a chorus from Mally Mall and verses from Drake, Tyga, and a hacker, called "Whatcha Say". Prior to this, Drake previewed his verse multiple times in clubs, and it was referred to as his "All White" verse. It was originally a Drake track, and he gave it to Nicki to use for her album.
The song was released as a bonus track if you purchased the album off iTunes. Due to success, it was made available on digital retailers and streaming sites on January 23, 2015. The song impacted Top 40 (Pop) radio on March 3, 2015.
